چکیده
Self-similar pulse can be generated in a normal dispersion-decreasing fiber. We show that the dynamics of self-similar pulse evolution is governed by the different spectrum broadening mechanisms in the different stages, which is confirmed by the typical pulse spectral structures with amplitude noise added.

Pulse generation without gain-bandwidth limitation in a laser with self-similar evolution
With existing techniques for mode-locking, the bandwidth of ultrashort pulses from a laser is determined primarily by the spectrum of the gain medium. Lasers with self-similar evolution of the pulse in the gain medium can tolerate strong spectral breathing, which is stabilized by nonlinear attraction to the parabolic self-similar pulse. Here we show that this property can be exploited in a fibe...
متن کاملPulse dynamics in carbon nanotube mode-locked fiber lasers near zero cavity dispersion.
We numerically and experimentally analyze the output characteristics and pulse dynamics of carbon nanotube mode-locked fiber lasers near zero cavity dispersion (from 0.02 to ~-0.02 ps(2)). We focus on such near zero dispersion cavities to reveal the dispersion related transition between different mode-locking regimes (such as soliton-like, stretched-pulse and self-similar regimes). Using our pr...
متن کاملPropagation of Parabolic Pulse through a Dispersion Decreasing Fiber with High Nonlinearity
Generation and propagation of Parabolic pulse through a designed and optimized silica based highly nonlinear dispersion decreasing fiber (HN-DDF) has been studied. It is seen that the proposed fiber can be treated as best choice for parabolic pulse generation with less input power requirement in comparison to standard normal dispersion fibers.
متن کاملUltrashort soliton generation through higher-order soliton compression in a nonlinear optical loop mirror constructed from dispersion-decreasing fiber
A novel technique to generate ultrashort fundamental solitons is proposed and demonstrated numerically. The technique utilizes both the multisoliton pulse-compression effect and the switching characteristics of a nonlinear optical loop mirror constructed from dispersion-decreasing fiber. We show that, in contrast to the conventional soliton-effect pulse compression in which compressed pulses ar...
متن کاملSelf-similar propagation and amplification of parabolic pulses in optical fibers.
Ultrashort pulse propagation in high gain optical fiber amplifiers with normal dispersion is studied by self-similarity analysis of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with gain. An exact asymptotic solution is found, corresponding to a linearly chirped parabolic pulse which propagates self-similarly subject to simple scaling rules. The solution has been confirmed by numerical simulations and ex...
